New Media Robotics

Unearthly Flowers – Final documentation

Finally got some footage of my flowers hanging on my ceiling and then editing over some creepy music to enhance how I wanted the flowers to come off as. Because they had LED lights in the middle, it was required for the lights to be off otherwise they don’t make much of an impact in bright light.

Unfortunately, I only had hot glue in order to adhere the colored cellophane to the wire and while it stuck fine, it was highly noticeable in bright light or very close up, so that’s the one thing I wish I could change. However, I am still rather satisfied on how they came out!

Even though there were some rough patches on how to complete this project, I’m glad I was able to figure out a solution.

Update #2

After talking with TradeMark about my project, I don’t think it’s possible to be able to make anything move, considering how thick the wire is and also how incredibly difficult it is to work with galvanized wire in the first place.

Here are some pictures after acquiring more materials:

Major project update

Due to COVID-19, and leaving Columbus, I had to really re-think how I was going to be able to make my initial concept without… the robotics aspect. Due to lack of needed supplies, resources and availability of already owned supplies, I decided to just produce sculptural flowers. I first intend to build a rough outline of what I want them to look like and then see if I can make them move somehow (wire? string?)
