My name is Megan Wright and I’m currently a fourth year undergraduate studying Art and Technology at the Ohio State University. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and would like to pursue a Master of Fine Arts within the next year to help further my creativity and research within the art world.
I am extremely interested in characters for film, animation, concept art, and game development. Many of my inspirations and influences for these areas stem from playing video games and watching cartoons and animated films when I was younger. I love analyzing and breaking down the characters’ traits, concept development, and what big role they play. Characters have also been a way for me to emotionally connect with and immerse myself in the fictional world.
As an adopted Chinese-American woman who who grew up in an all-white community where culture, diversity, and open-mindedness was slim to none, my themes and concepts in my artwork have begun to revolve around personal cultural experiences, mental health awareness, and self-reflection. As a double minority, I feel it is not only important to consistently promote these subjects through my artwork to bring awareness, but also as a reminder of who I am as a person.
